The hope is that everyone will participate in discussions regarding the theme of ​How can one effectively communicate innovative problem-solving? as illustrated in the community read, Noon at Tiffany's by Echo Heron.

and the Thinking Machine

Ada Lovelace, the daughter of the famous romantic poet, Lord Byron, develops her creativity through science and math. When she meets Charles Babbage, the inventor of the first mechanical computer, Ada understands the machine better than anyone else and writes the world's first computer program in order to demonstrate its capabilities.

​Bias still exists in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. Ada Lovelace Day is an international celebration of women's achievement and a discussion on gender bias in these fields.

"Stained Glass" ​Art Activity.  
​Our ‘Kids Read, Too!’ team including the Junior Friends of the Library presented our featured book for younger readers and suggested activities.

Author Laurie Wallmark

Author of the ‘Kids Read, Too!’ featured book, Ada Byron Lovelace and the Thinking Machine, read the book aloud as part of an interactive online presentation.
​The door prize was an autographed book; two other copies were also awarded.

"Stained Glass" Dreamcatcher Activity

Using tissue, contact and black paper to make “stained glass,” young artists created a dream catcher that is an early example of nano-technology.  

​Presenters were the Children's Museum of Science and Technology of SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

"Stained Glass" Tiles

We Made a "Stained Glass" Tile 
Teens entered the colorful world of alcohol inks with artist Mary Frances Millet and learned how to place alcohol inks in various colors on ceramic tiles. The result was a look similar to stained glass.
