The Kids Read, too! Project for 2014 was the TTOB Read to Feed-Kids Helping Kids-Families Helping Families initiative in support of The Heifer International Project. Our goal was to raise awareness and to adopt farm animals to help alleviate hunger and poverty in the U.S. There were many opportunities to make donations at our events. Read to Feed Project
Our “Kids Read, Too!” Committee presented this season’s featured event on April 24. Over 100 people of all ages participated in the fun at Skano/Tesago Elementary School on the Shenendehowa Campus. Guests tried new foods, colored healthy food choices, learned about Heifer International, posed as farmers for photographs, and went home with seeds to sprout. What’s on Your Plate photos

Shensational
Kids Read, Too! Committee attended local school district diversity event. The intent of Shensational is to acknowledge and celebrate the array of backgrounds, cultures, and viewpoints reflected in our community. The goal is to promote dialogue on critical topics and foster an enhanced appreciation of the differences that make this community great. The Committee identified Heifer International as a symbol of this diversity and distributed information and provided children's activities related to this theme.

Literary Trivia Walk
|
Community residents enjoyed the September 29th Literary Trivia Walk sponsored by Friends of the Library and the Shenendehowa School Librarians. Many families arrived at Shatekon Elementary School to register and receive a map of the walk through Shatekon and Arongen and on to the woodland pathway to the library. Along the way, participants stopped at 18 stations to examine clues, artifacts, and quotes from books suggested by our schools, the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, and online here at Two Towns-One Book. Participants were provided with a list of possible titles. Completed forms were turned in at station number 18 in front of the library. All entries were eligible for prizes, including a Kindle Fire! Participants had an opportunity to vote for one of five contenders for this year’s community read. The day presented a perfect collaboration among TTOB volunteers and Community Sponsors.
